Get Connected in a Group!
Our church’s mission is connecting people to who Jesus is and what He came to do. Being a part of a faith community provides a great opportunity for this to happen. In our groups we learn God’s Word, care for each other, praise God for who He is and what He’s done, and pray to God for His help and guidance. The key is – we do these things together! These meaningful relationships help everyone grow in their faith.
Types of Groups:
Life Groups: Year-round gatherings of people who study God’s Word through the Gospel Project curriculum, have fun events, and partner together in local ministry projects.
Bible Studies: Topic-driven groups that study and apply God’s Word to everyday life.
Support Groups: People helping people heal from life’s hurts.
Discipleship Groups: Mentor led groups that guide people in the foundational elements of the faith.
The Bible Institute: An academic approach to help individuals gain a deeper understanding of God’s Word.
Women's Bible Study - Reading God's Story
It is an incredible privilege to read through all of God’s Word. The Bible is God’s revelation to all of us. The purpose of Bible study is to grasp an understanding of God through His Word. It is the only book that gives us accurate information about who God is, what He is doing in this world today, His marvelous plan of redemption and what is to be in the future. It provides us with guidance for life and tells us how to receive eternal life. The Bible can do these things because it is God’s inspired Word. Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17. There we read about four activities His Word is profitable (prepares us) for. It teaches – helps us understand and brings clarity to life. It reproves – shows us how we have sinned. It corrects – points us to the truth when we are in error. It trains – shows us how to obey. God’s Word is fully sufficient to prepare us for everything the Bible commands us to do. The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to transform us into Christ-likeness. Bible study – the understanding and application of God’s Word is the Holy Spirit’s primary means of transforming us into Christ-likeness. Because of these things, we want to encourage becoming a life-long student of God’s Word. George Guthrie has designed “Reading God's Story” to help us see clearly the grand story of the Bible. In this plan the books, chapters, and verses of the Bible are thoughtfully arranged so readers can track the story of redemption, day by day, from beginning to end, understanding the flow of events and how all the different parts fit together to make sense. This edition of the Scripture will serve as our textbook for this study, but you may wish to use your own bible. We will also use the Gospel Project’s “99 Essential Doctrines” and W.A. Criswell’s “The Scarlet Thread” as references. A syllabus with the study schedule and calendar will be available at the first class. This Bible study is offered Tuesday Morning at 9 AM in the Ambassador Room or Evening at 6:30 PM in the Education Center room 260. We will begin on May 11, 2021 and will be both in the classroom and on Zoom. When you register for this class, please give us complete contact information as we will need both email address and a mailing address. All announcements, handout information, zoom invitations depend on an accurate email contact. If you are not able to come to class in person, you are welcome on Zoom but we will need to send you the reference documents by mail.
